Buaisou for Range-17
Since 2019 we have been commissioning special dying projects to Buaisou in Tokushima, Japan. An indigo leaf farm, a producer of fermented indigo known as sukumo and a dye-house, Buaisou in operated by a group of obsessive, singularly focused craftspeople who are far below the average age of their contemporaries. For the 17th MAN-TLE range they have overdyed our S4 shirts made from a cotton / linen parachute cloth. This day-long process involves washing and preparing to dye, dying in multiple vats of varied ages, rinsing, spinning and drying. With their advanced understanding of the living nature of natural indigo baths and the spectrum of blues generated through the lifespan of the solution, they can achieve greater depth and consistency dying fabric than is uncommonly found.
